The Communications and Networks research group, belonging to the Research Institute for Integrated Coastal Zone Management (iGIC), based at the Gandia campus, is a multidisciplinary group formed by experts in telecommunications, computer science, electronics, environmental sciences and biology. The main objective of this research group is to "analyse, design and develop any type of complex communication system for the monitoring and sensing of different environments in coastal and underwater areas".
Some of the activities developed within the group and in which students can join are the development and deployment of heterogeneous networks, wired and wireless, for remote sensing through the use of sensors of different nature, sensor networks or image processing techniques or remote sensing applied to the terrestrial and marine environment, as well as developing low-cost sensors to monitor both the aquatic and terrestrial environment, especially in precision agriculture.
