Resumen

This PROMETEO project is presented as a continuation of the PROMETEO/2009/016, PROMETEOII/2014/047 and PROMETEO/2018/024 projects and focuses on the development of new probes, sensors and controlled release systems for different applications following a multidisciplinary approach, using the bases of supramolecular chemistry, materials science, electronics and biology. In particular, the project will address the development of sensor systems for the detection of drugs, biomarkers and other biological molecules of interest, using classic molecular-based probes, electronic sensors, solid supports and metabolomic studies. A part of the project is focused on the development of materials with advanced functionality, in particular gated materials for controlled release applications will be developed. Gated materials will be combined with nanomotors and used for killing bacteria and fungi. In addition, from a more basic point of view, the project is also focused on the use of gated materials (and other nanoparticles) to bring molecular communication concepts to a higher level of sophistication via the design of nanoparticles able of communicating between them or with cells through the exchange of chemical messengers. The present PROMETEO project is proposed from the perspective of generating results at the frontier of knowledge by developing cutting-edge technologies, following an interdisciplinary approach, and aiming to address both basic and applied research.
