Resumen
The purpose of this Project is to develop a robotic walker able
to assist elderly and low movement people to stand up and sit down as well as to assist in the walking.
The proposed walker will be designed with a sensorial and cognitive assistance for secure and trusted
assistance, as stability. In order to achieve the main aim of the Project some objectives will be developed:
¿¿ Objective 1: To develop an easy cognitive interface in order to detect obstacles and avoid
collisions and detect user movement.
¿¿ Objective 2: To develop an ergonomic device that will respect principles of medical device
design. To define the correct and easy esthetic design for elderly people and disabled people. To
develop the walker adjustable for different user heights.
¿¿ Objective 3: To disseminate the device in journal papers, conferences sponsored by IES and
IEEE, organize and/or participate in Technologic Awards and Competitions, etc.
The Recipient shall manage the Grant from IEEE only for the purpose and for the manner specified herein
and shall repay any amounts not so used. Grant shall not be issued or transferred to any other entity or
person other than the Recipient unless authorized in writing by IEEE. The Grant shall never be used to
influence legislation, to influence the outcome of an election, or to carry on voter registration drives.
