Abstract

In this study has been investigated the effect of bio-organic substances (SBO) obtained from municipal waste to try to expand the pH region usually employed in the photo-Fenton process. For this purpose, a mixture of six emerging pollutants, namely acetaminophen, amoxicillin, caffeine, acetamiprid, carbamazepine and clofibric acid, at a initial concentration of 5 mg∙L-1 has been irradiated in a solar simulator. The results show that the presence of SBO in the photo-Fenton process at pH 5.2, improve the results obtained in their absence. This effect could be due to the complexing action on iron SBO to slightly acidic pH.
