Abstract

Nowadays, consumption of mobile multimedia services is increasing due to the emergence of new devices such as smart phones and tablets. To cover these new requirements, several communication standards are emerging and evolving, searching higher transmission rates and coverage. One of the techniques that achieves these targets is the use of multiple transmit and receive antennas, known as MIMO. However the problems that arise from this technology are very complex so it is necessary to develop efficient and low-complexity algorithms capable of running on high performance computers, such as multicore and GPU systems. We propose a set of efficient routines to perform some of the critical stages in MIMO communication systems such as channel coding, preprocessing, precoding and detection. These functions are optimized to be run in a wide range of architectures increasing the portability of scientific codes between different computing environments.
