Abstract

Space-division multiplexing (SDM) through Multicore fibers (MCFs) has been intensively researched last years as a solution to the upcoming transmission capacity bottleneck in the framework of Digital Communications. We propose the novel extension of this concept to the areas of analog photonics and radio-over-fiber systems by implementing novel devices based on the in-line inscription of resonant structures on homogeneous MCFs. By exploiting the inherent parallelism of these components, a wide range of Microwave Photonics (MWP) applications will benefit from the inherent parallelism of MCFs through the implementation of an essential functionality: a broadband tunable true time delay line.
