Abstract

This paper is focused on the automated synthesis of transmission lines loaded with complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs). These structures are of special interest for the implementation of resonant-type metamaterial transmission lines. A new two-step aggressive space mapping (ASM) optimization algorithm, able to automatically generate the layout of these artificial lines, has been developed. The main relevant aspects of the proposed algorithm are: the capability to determine the implementable circuit elements for a given target response and find in few iteration steps a valid solution, thanks to this new proposed method which provides an initial layout very close to the final solution
