Abstract

From 13th to 26thof July 2014, 30 students and 13 professors from 6 universities and 5 different countries attended the Intensive Programme Hercules 2014 (IPH-14) at Pavia, Italy, and surroundings. This Program was organized by Politechnika Opolska of Opole, Poland, and funded by the European Community (EC) through the Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP). During these two weeks students of architecture, building management and building engineering had to draw different historical buildings and cityscape views every day, on freehand style, with just a pencil and a sheet of paper as main tools, working in multicultural teams with English as main communication tool. The experience has been interesting and enriching for both, professors and students, that could share much more than a normal session. A whole city to learn each other and share experiences was at disposal during drawing lectures and working experiences also for competences training. Different points of view, traditions and enriching life experiences had an important role for students, teachers and involved staff. Universities are nowadays involved in internationalization process will indirectly also take advantage of the IP. This paper reflects the different aspects of this experience, highlighting the most significant points of this learning and teaching experience with a quite exhaustive description of the background, the contents, the dissemination activities and the main achieved goals.
