Abstract
The emotions aroused by a musical performance are linked to the place where it is played, as the ultimate sounding board, and can be influenced by all the senses. The place where the interpretation takes place, its architecture, its smell, its colors, its temperature, to put it briefly, the environment that is created in a certain space, influences the acoustic perception that the listener has of a certain musical interpretation.
Bearing this in mind is especially interesting when musical performance venues (auditoriums or concert halls) are refurbished, because it can change their acoustic behavior.
In the framework of a broader investigation a subjective acoustic assessment methodology has been adjusted. This article describes the process followed for the definition and pilot experience of the methodology through a bibliographical research process, consultations with professionals and validation of the subjective test.
