Resumen
In this context, SABIOCONTROL aims to develop, design, and implement novel and innovative solutions for the management of key pests in the selected crops. Specifically, SABIOCONTROL will focus on the management of the mealybug Delottococcus aberiae, the orchid thrips Chaetanaphothrips orchidii, the mite pest species of Tetrachynidae family in citrus crops, and of the mealybug Pseudococcus longispinus and the whitefly Dialeurodes citri in persimmon. In the case of citrus, all the species detected in our territory during the last two decades are invasive pests. The two selected persimmon pests are emerging pests whose incidence has scaled up in the last ten years. Our innovative management approach will combine the use of selected biodiversity, comprising i) suitable natural enemies and ii) native plant species. This integrated strategy will allow symbiotically reinforcing crop sustainability, from an innovative multidisciplinary perspective.
